In conjunction with World Water Day – Nature for Water, Starbucks partners (employees) join forces with Planet Water Foundation on March 22nd, 2018 for Project 24 at SD Negeri 2, Gelanggang, Kuang Wai, East Lombok. This project is purposed to create access to get clean drinking water by deploying AquaTower water ¬filtration solution.

The AquaTower supports the daily drinking water requirements of up to 1,000 people per day. Project 24 is a World Water Day event that raises awareness of the global water crisis by mobilizing leading companies and citizens to deliver clean, safe water and hygiene education programs in 24 communities across five geographies in 24 hours.

Starbucks and Planet Water Foundation have partnered since 2011 and have provided 10 communities across Indonesia in Bekasi, Tangerang, Surabaya, Sumatera, Bali, to Lombok.

On the island of Lombok, industrialization and pollution has rendered well water unsafe to drink in remote villages such as Kuangwai ¬– this year’s Project 24 recipient community sponsored by Starbucks. Students often experience skin diseases and respiratory disorders caused by drinking contaminated water at the primary school well ¬– where the AquaTower will be located.

“Numerous Starbucks Partners have volunteered on our projects. Their engagement with students and teachers in schools has made a meaningful, long-term impact in the recipient communities over the last seven years.”
