Boost Literacy through Starbucks BFF (Books For the Future) 2025
As Starbucks promise to make a positive Impact, At the end of 2022, we started the Starbucks Books For the Future (Starbucks BFF) program and succeeded in collecting more than 14,000 books and curating more than 10,000 books to be donated to the ISCO Foundation (Indonesia Street Children Organization) and the Sahabat Anak Foundation in Jakarta.
This year, together with partners and Starbucks Rewards members, 6,279 books were successfully donated to the ISCO Foundation in Jakarta, Medan and Surabaya, as well as the Sahabat Anak Foundation in Jakarta, Sanggar Alang-Alang Surabaya and Sanggar Alusi Tao Toba in North Sumatra. This symbolic book handover event was held on April 23, 2025, at the Starbucks Community Store Tata Puri, right on World Book Day.
“According to UNESCO, Indonesia ranks second to last in the world in terms of literacy, indicating that reading interest is extremely low - the reading interest of the Indonesian people is only 0.001%. That is, out of 1,000 Indonesians, only one is a voracious reader!”
Through this initiative, Starbucks hope that Starbucks BFF can make a great positive impact in increasing the number of Indonesia's literacy. Starbucks also hope that the books that have been given can provide benefits and be put to good use by the children of the foundations.
