Starbucks Indonesia invites 150 children as part of StarCoach to celebrate National Sports Day on 9th September 2018 at Global Jaya International School, South Tangerang. The event consisted of small competitions from the StarCoach training program which teaches children about life skills through Edu-Sports.

The event started at 12 o’clock by having lunch together, a welcoming speech from Starbucks Indonesia and the Asia Sports Academy (ASA) Foundation, and continued with fun and exciting small competitions. "The children and partners really enjoyed the program and they are very competitive in the competition and this is the core of StarCoach. Starbucks Indonesia has always been committed to be more actively involved with the environment, youth and the local community. StarCoach allows children, Starbucks partners and the community to meet in the same forum and carry out positive human empowerment activities,” said Vidi Prima, PR Assistant Manager Starbucks Indonesia.

"The momentum of National Sports Day is the right time to reiterate the enthusiasm of Indonesian youth to build positive life skills through sports. We are delighted to work with Starbucks knowing this partnership would greatly benefit Indonesian youth everywhere. We hope the program will help foster community spirit and open new opportunities and aspirations for youth," stated Lee Hawkins, founder of ASA Foundation.

Starbucks and ASA Foundation (Asian Sports Academy) joined forces to launch the program back in April which allows students in 10 cities to benefit through this program; Jabodetabek, Bandung, Bali, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Medan, Makassar, Pekanbaru, and Balikpapan. StarCoach is a ‘training of trainers’ (ToT) for partners (employees) to coach youth about life skills through Edu-Sports coaching clinics in two popular sports, namely football and basketball. Through this event, children will have the opportunity to attain life skills training, which will consist of self-confidence development, communication skills, coordination ability, understanding of equality and many other life skills. The StarCoach program which will last for 7 months is targeted to benefit more than 10,000 students aged from 11-14 years.
